A TASTER OF THE HERB KITCHEN

Newly opened at Easter 2015, our own staff run The Herb Kitchen to provide visitors with teas, coffees and light meals all year round seven days a week. Our Old Barn and Conservatory were given a complete facelift, prior to the re-opening, by Milly and Jo, stockists of Autentico paint, who work with us at The Herb Farm.

A typical menuOur emphasis is on freshly-made food, using locally sourced produce as much as possible. In season, we hand pick our herbs, salad leaves and tomatoes from our garden each day to produce a varied menu of homemade special dishes, which can include Tomato and Basil soup, Pea and Mint soup, Hummus Bruschetta with roasted oregano peppers and coriander pesto, and many of our dishes are accompanied by a range of Herb Farm-made salads. We also freshly pick, to order, herbs for teas such as Peppermint and Lemon Verbena.

A typical cream tea!Local deli, Alexandrina Victoria from Twyford, supply us with an ever-changing range of savouries: sausage rolls, pork pies, cooked deli meats and tangy Montgomery Cheddar cheese.

Our scones, fruit as well as savoury options with Thyme or Rosemary, and our heavenly cakes are baked by Sue Hubbard, a retired Devonshire pastry chef, and Ginger Perkins Artisan Bakery, Caversham.

Rustic Bread is sourced from Bon Apetit bakery in Pangbourne. Their seeded loaves are proving especially popular, and we now have a weekly delivery of their bread for sale in the Shop.

Eggs come from Beechwood Eggs on the Berkshire Downs and the Hot Chocolate is from the Mortimer Chocolate Company. Where appropriate, our dishes come with traditional accompaniments from the ever-popular Tracklements range that we have stocked in our Shop for many years.
