||HERB PLANT BASICS
Since 1985 we have been growing a wide range of culinary, aromatic and medicinal herbs. Many of the plants that we sell can be seen growing in our garden; visitors can therefore see how the small plant they might buy should look in years to come. Plants in our garden are also used to provide a source of cutting material for propagation.
Each year, staff at The Herb Farm propagate over 10,000 young herb plants, mostly from cuttings although some are raised from seed.
We have experienced staff on hand to help and advise on suitable varieties and methods of cultivation to achieve the best results whatever your requirements:
We specialise in growing the less common varieties of many well known herbs, and we have in excess of 25 different Lavenders, at least 10 Mints, numerous Thymes as well as various types of Rosemary.
- fresh herbs for the kitchen
- a fragrant container for the patio, or
- a complete herb garden.
Alongside the usual herbs we also have Bay and Olive trees, Scented Pelargoniums, Auriculas, Citrus plants, some wildflowers, old-fashioned Roses and cottage garden plants.
We aim to maintain stocks of all the popular kitchen herbs throughout the year, but some will only grow in the summer months (eg Basil) and others die down in winter (eg Mint). For the best selection of plants, visit us in late May/early June.
